This technique works basically as it does in canon with more consistency and lore depending on Boruto. As the wiki says the soul becomes immortal. Learning the technique can be considered to grant the site's best "immortality". Cursed seals act as anchors to the consciousness of the user and can't be tampered with. What anchoring consciousness means is that the user observes from inside all cursed seals and if released their soul will move to the new body no matter where it was before. The only exception is that the Dead Demon Consuming Seal if used fully or Human Path will definitively kill. Dying of old age effectively becomes impossible with each body reset. The user can choose whether they're released or not. Transferring bodies temporarily relieves the partial effects of Dead Demon Consuming Seal, but if not transferring during a time skip they'll begin rotting. Compatibility with a body can slow rotting but the rotting process and sense of urgency is only for character development.

The main form of the technique is usually successfully usable only once unless a time skip happens. As long as the chakra stat surpasses another person and they're captured in the "true form" a body will be taken over. The true form can emerge at any time as long as the user of this technique is in control. Uchiha with Sharingan will always have an advantage at the same chakra level, and are the only ones who can reverse the possession as it's being done. Once possession is successful each person's soul is connected and they can use all the forms or abilities of the others. B-rank and below are automatically learned while above requires training. An Uchiha who reverses the technique can only use the techniques their body can use and they can't assume the form of others. Host stamina becoming empty gives the opportunity to the most recent suppressed soul to emerge.

Evil Releasing Method from a cursed seal allows a new use and to takeover a body a target needs to have mastered a cursed seal.

Uchiha can get a second summon contract through reversing this technique. Uchiha reversing this technique are considered to be this technique's user on the limited roster. Uchiha can't unlock nor use Mangekyou while benefiting from this technique. The only way to cleanse the effect is by Totsuka Sword sealing the cursed seal creator.
